The Ati Radeon Mobility HD 5870 wattage range exceeds the Alienware M15x qualification
At the higher wattage, the Mobility HD 5870 may or may not function in the system, but will cause the temperature of the system to exceed the thermal design rating. Because of this, we chose to go with the Ati Radeon Mobility HD 5850. The Dell warranty does not cover the upgrade to the Mobility HD 5870. These are the Dell validated video cards:

Flashing the M15x with the A03 (R252901.exe) Bios causes the system to become non-bootable
* The system will power on, the Alienware Bios splash screen will appear as normal but once the system completes POST, the screen changes to a black screen with a blinking cursor. This only affected systems being flashed with the A03 Bios that was downloaded from Dell’s website. The only solution for this problem is to replace the motherboard

Enter key does not work when running some applications or games
* Update the Bios

Battery Not Charging or Not Recognized
* Shut down the system
* Remove the AC adapter connection and battery from the PC
* Hold down the AlienHead power button for 10 seconds
* Place the battery back into the system and plug in the AC Adapter
* Turn on the system and enter Windows. The battery should be recognized now and charging. If the battery is recognized but not charging, toggle FN+F2 until it shows that the battery charging is enabled. Verify this by checking the status bar that the battery is charging

Throttling
* The throttling on the M15x only occurs in synthetic benchmarking when the four CPU cores are pegged to 100% sustained. You should never see this in real world gaming
