Can't install CDROM software without

Here is the message I get as soon as I put in a CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive:

"An exception 0E has occurred at 0028:681030C1 in VxD ---, This was called from 0028:C182D6F8 in VxD scsi1hlp(03) + 00000508."

What does this archaic garble mean? Anyone genius enough to understand it? I can't seem to install anything without this message appearing.

Thanks,
