Help!

Im trying to get the dell website to check my configuration but the System Profiler will not run. I click on it and a few seconds later it says 'The Dell System Profiler has been cancelled and will not examine your computer'. But i didn't cancel it!! I have recently reinstalled windows xp pro if thats any help. Thanks.

Sounds like the security settings on your new browser perhaps, or on some security software that won't allow what is probably ActiveX scripts to run.

Just a guess.  I suspect that what you're seeing is something small.

Go here and see if you can run an online scan:

    http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/default.asp?langid=ie&venid=sym

    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

If you can't run a scan from either site, then it's most definitely an ActiveX settings/security issue, perhaps even a software firewall if you have one.

    Good luck.

Both of those checks worked fine. I installed spybot search & destroy about a week ago, could that be the problem? If so, how do i fix it?

    Thanks.

Try this. We are re-registering the ie dll files that let you access secure websites. also restore IE defaults from the tools tab before proceeding with this

Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
At the command prompt, type the following lines and press ENTER after each line:
    regsvr32 softpub.dll
    regsvr32 wintrust.dll
    regsvr32 initpki.dll
    regsvr32 dssenh.dll
    regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
    regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
    regsvr32 sccbase.dll
    regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
    regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll

Click OK when you receive the message that DllRegisterServer in FileName succeeded.
Type exit to quit Command Prompt.

    Keep us posted
