JIT Complier (internet options)

I have a 8100 with Windows ME. When I go to the internet
options-advance tab - & put a check mark on JIT complier
for virtual machine enabled, It seems like I get a lot more of
pop-up ads. Would that action have caused the extra pop-up
ads when I' m in the internet. What advantages or disadvantages would I have
if I leave it enabled.

Yes, having JAVA enabled will result in a lot more pop-up ads, since many of these use JAVA to enable the pop-ups. Some web sites use JAVA for legitimate purposes, and thus having JAVA enabled allows you to see the content that requires JAVA. With JAVA disabled you won't be able to see that kind of content and you will also get lots of pop-up ads. I would recommend leaving JAVA enabled, and then running a program designed to stop the pop-ups. Look through these forums for information or post another message requesting advice on pop-up stopping programs.
