Hi, first time here, so be gentle.

I have a 30 month old Dell Optiplex GX270 with a 17" flat screen monitor that's been faultless for the last 28 months but has recently started to play up in the weirdest situations. Sometimes I can just open a graphic file in PhotoShop or even be visiting a web page and it just goes - total power loss to the monitor. No warning, just bang, gone!

The only way to get it back is to power off the system unit and power up from scratch (hoping not too much damage is done to the apps and data files that were running!)

 

I'm not a newbie and I consider myself pretty handy with PCs but I have absolutely no idea what I'm looking for on this...any helpers out there? Please!!
