Power Supply?
I am currently located in Camp Anaconda in Iraq. I have a Dell Optiplex GX110 that was given to me becuase it was going to the trash... However, after some cleaning I fired up the PC on and it gives me an error code message on the POST stating... failed at [SIZE] or [EMem] or [POKE] and does not want to boot properly... however, after removing the CD ROM and HDD from the ribbon cable still doing the same thing. If I disconnect the power and ribbon cable from the Floppy, HDD and CD ROM the PC POST normaly without the error codes, also shows the Dell logo and the progression bar at the BIOS...
Is that an indication of a weak / bad power supply? Can I test the PSU somehow with a multimeter to see what is the output? There is a diagram that tells what is the power on each connectors? I know the PC is out of warranty and here is hard to get part as is, there is a way to use a off the shelf PSU for this PC if that is the case? Any help will beneficiate all the guys here in the Army.

- this is not really reccommended and i would like speedstep to comment on it. I will post the link since you are in iraq and and it takes a long time to get parts. an atx power supply is easier to find.

- i forgot to mention one thing. to pull out the pins you need a molex extractor . its a device that looks like a amall pipe that fit over the pins. you probably can make one your self using fine tubing .
I will post a link for you to see what they look like.

- pulling the pins would be an exercize in futility.
You could cut off the cable from the old dell power supply and then wire by wire use heatshrink and solder the wires onto the new one with the connector cut off.
Thats because the 3.3v connectors on ATX have 5v on them. ATX 12v sometimes has a connector that looks as if it would work but will blow up the motherboard if you use that.
Note the adaptor just uses the 20 pin connector from the standard ATX.
Molex crimping tools cost more than a new power supply and I suspect this would be too much to ask.
The Pentagon has a BPA contract with Dell and could get a spare power supply to him in Iraq if he truely needs it.

The GXa, GX1, GX110 etc use a Proprietary Power Supply.
You can get an adaptor for the Desktop and Tower version of the GX110.
I agree this sounds like a bad power supply. The part number for the Tower and Desktop is DPN 0009228C. The Small form factor version of the supply is not the same size and is 110 watts.
