Problem getting both monitors to run at the same time
Hello,
Bought a second Gateway flatscreen monitor, this time a 24", to go along with my first, a 21", but for some reason only one or the other will run.
My system is the XPS 700 with the following 2 video cards:
Dual 1GB NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 Dual-GPU Graphics Cards, Quad SLI
Both monitors do work fine on their own out of either card. Both cards have the dvi connections but the older 21" monitor has a vga connector that I'm using a dvi adaptor on.
When starting up my system both monitors appear to be attempting to run but just prior to the Windows screen one of the monitors shuts off.
When I bought this system I was told that yes I could indeed run two monitors with these two cards.
Oh. I'm thinking I am getting to the other monitor even though it's not on, or getting somewhere, because I can drag stuff off the screen and lose it till I go back to the single desktop settings or single monitor mode.
Been working on this for a couple of weeks and simply can't figure out why I can't get both monitors to stay on at the same time.
Any help appreciated.
Best regards,
Don, Toronto
