AC ADAPTER CANNOT BE DETERMINED

i recently purchased a Dell Inspiron N4110 and it worked fine the first time. I bought it from the Philippines but brought it with me in Singapore. I only got the chance to charge it today but i came up with this error message that the AC adapter cannot be determined. i have already enabled battery charging in the Dell Battery Life Meter. Also i have verified that there's nothing wrong with both my battery and ac adapter as both worked on a Dell Inspiron N4050 which i tried using on. Is it the BIOS?

I read an article about using the laptop for a very short time and recharging it afterwards causing the battery power meter to go out of sync with the actual amount of power stored. It said BIOS settings need to be changed. Is this correct?

The article I read can be accessed through this:

Also, since I purchased this from the Philippines and am now using and might need the warranty, do i need to transfer the warranty to Singapore? I tried doing that but it's asking me for the previous owner's name and I am the only owner of this, I just need to change the country warranty coverage. PLEASE HELP. thanks!

    Hi,

    Thanks for contacting the community.

There seems to be an issue with the AC Adaptor or with the motherboard of the system. I would suggest you to check the status of AC Adaptor in system BIOS, please follow below mentioned steps:

    1)     Reboot the computer.

    2)     When prompted during POST, press the key to enter the setup screen.

    3)     Please check for the AC Adaptor type.

    4)     Also, I would suggest you to load BIOS to default. On the System Setup screen, press the key. Press the key on Yes to Load Optimized Defaults and restart the computer.

If the issue still persists would suggest you to update latest version of system BIOS from the below mentioned link:

In case issue still persists please provide me the Service tag or the Express Service code of the system in a private message.

Please reply if you have any further questions.

    Thanks & Regards
    Prateek K

If the adapter is not bad then the motherboard must be replaced.  Does not sound like you purchased from Authorized DELL dealer.  You may not have any warranty.  This site is the USA site. There is no Philippines support here.

It may not be necessary to replace the board -- there is a cabled power jack to try replacing first.
