battery help
I have a question about my moms dell laptop. Last night she was using it and it was plugged into the wall but kept telling her battery low even while plugged in. Then it just shut off. I tried it this morning and the lights near the keyboard turn on for like 3 secs then dies. Do you think it's the battery or something worse? I removed the battery and have the ac adaptor plugged into the wall. The green light on the adaptor is on. But when I plug the power into the laptop. The light on the adaptor goes off. The battery is not in the laptop when I did this. Any ideas or advice? pretty old laptop. was purchased in 2011

Hi,
If the adapter light goes off as soon the cable is plugged in, that indicates the fault is with the DC port or the system board.
Since you have mentioned the laptop was working fine till it died, I would suggest you to give it a try with another working charger to check if the light stays on or if the computer starts up okay.
Thanks.
