Start by trying this simple step first. Unplug the router and modem power. Wait a couple minutes and plug (power) the modem first. After the modem is fully powered up then power up the router. Once it is all powered up then on the laptop select start and then run. Type in cmd and hit enter. Then type ipconfig /release and then hit enter. Then type in ipconfig /renew and hit enter. Then close the window and try your wireless connection again.

    add details.

what is the type of your wireless card?
what is the type of your router?

it's can be because you have draft-N wireless card and there is a new drivers at dell driver web site.

try downloading the latest driver and install it.

also start by trying to cancel all security on your router (open network)
and see if your card can connect to the router, then add the security and try to understand where it's failed.

Do you have a static address in your wireless adapter? I ran into this with a user last week, where some hotel must have told him to enter their information statically into his wireless card configuration. Which gave him the appearance of connecting to other hotspots, but not do anything with the connection.
