Inspiron 1525 laptop Model No. PP29L with Intel Graphics Media

Accelerator X3100, connected to flat panel TV (47" Philips LCD TV)

using the HDMI port, the desktop looks great - 1920x1080, 60Hz, 32-bit color... 

 

The problem is trying to play high definition movies (HD-DVD).

I am using XBox HD-DVD drive and CyberLink PowerDVD Ultra v7.3

The movie will play on the notebook screen, but not on the TV

connected to the HDMI port. PowerDVD stops the playback

and displays the following warning:

  "Failed to enable HDCP.

  Please switch to analog output (VGA/D-Sub) and try again.

  (Error Code = 0110). Please run the BD/HD Advisor tool."

 

CyberLink HD/BD Advisor reports "Video Connection Type: Digital (without HDCP)"

 

I know the TV supports HDCP, use it with Toshiba HD-A30 and with desktop PC

running XP/PowerDVD/nVidia 8600GT.

The Inspiron laptop is running Vista and has the latest video driver from Dell support...

 

Has anybody else experienced the same issues?

The Intel Graphics Guide lists the Content Protection for Intel® GMA X3100/ GM965, GL960  as COPP/PMP w/HDCP.

Can somebody confirm that the HDMI port on the Inspiron laptops supports HDCP?

The Blu-Ray 1525 Inspirons have the same video card:

Is this a configuration issue, for exampe HDCP is not enabled by default?

p.s. While the Intel chipset (GM965) supports HDMI with HDCP

  The second article talks about problems with A/V receivers acting as repeaters, while stating
  that normal connection (motherboard <- HDMI -> HDCP compliant TV) works fine.
  The comments describe HDCP issues even with direct connections - as in my case.

  Maybe the third party chip doesn't support HDMI with HDCP...
