Keyboard problem

Starting this morning i have been having a problem with my keyboard on my inspiron 600m. When ever i press a button on the keyboard it types the key i pressed then a "1". it will come and go though. At first i just thought the key was stuck or something but it happens no matter what key i press, i can press backspace and it will insert a "1". any idea of what it could be??
Thanx

    Hi,

I would expect the KBD is faulty. There may be some grit under the key making is extra sensitive. When you hit another key, the vibration will register a 1. How far do you have to press for a " 1 "  ? Take the KBD out and try an external one. Keep in mind that there is some circuits on the MBD for the internal KBD only, and the best test if an external one works is to replace it.

well i hooked up a exterbal keyboard and the problem does not happen when i use this keyboard, i popped off the keys around the "1" and used an air spray can but it did not fix it is the1re a way to take the key apart further??... i assume that i will have to replace the keyboard on my laptop and was wondering if it was a simple thing to do where i would be able to do it 1myself or if im better off to send it in to have it done??? also just curious but has anyone heard of this problem before and what caused it?? thanx

    Hi,

The KBD is easy to change, 2 screws. You can try to take it apart, but could go from bad to worse.
