I have an Inspiron 2500 and I recently hit the screen, resulting in what appears to be permanent damage.  Now when I turn on my computer, instead of it eventually going to the desktop, there are vertical streaks of colors, black streaks in all directions, and large black spots.  This is what I see until I turn off the computer.  Right now, I'm using the computer with an external monitor. 

Does this represent permanent damage to some vital components inside the screen? (There is no visible external damage to the screen).  If so, is there any way to repair this damage?
