UNSOLVED
I just received my 2407WFP A02 replacement panel.
..and it still has banding in both Multimedia and Gaming modes. It's no different from the flashed A00 (ML2) panel that I've got sitting here next to it. Desktop in both are fixed, but that's it.
I don't see any option for turning off the Faroudja processor anywhere in the OSD settings or in the service menu. How are users supposed to turn of the processor? And if there is in fact a means of doing so, what does that mean in terms of the performance of this panel?
This revision doesn't appear to have done anything with regard to the banding issues.
Dell has a firmware update that adjusts the ACC (Adaptive Color and Contrast) & ACM (Active Color Management) features, eliminating the banding issue when using the Desktop mode. All of these monitors have three display modes: Desktop, Multimedia and Gaming. The firmware turns off Faroudja video processing in Desktop mode. It remains enabled in the other two modes. Essentially, the updated firmware allows users to choose whether they want the Faroudja video processing feature on or off.
