"a network cable is unplugged"

so i get this message when i try to use a cable to connect to the network. i can still connect wirelessly without a problem. i havent changed anything software wise, this problem has progressively gotten worse. when i get this message, i can sometimes wiggle the network cable and it will re-connect. sometimes i dont have to touch anything and it will re-connect (used to happen much more often than it does now, now it very rarely happens) and sometimes i wiggle it around and nothing happens. sometimes it seems like there is no relation between wiggling and connecting, other times it seems they are related. for now i am just connecting useing a wireless router, but what do you think could be wrong? is it software, hardware, and how do i fix it? thanks for your help.

Sounds like you have a bad connector on the motherboard.  You don't say which model computer you have, so it's hard to give advice.  If you are still under warranty, call Dell Tech Support for a repair.

My classmate and myself both have inspiron 5150s.

Both of us are experiencing exactly the same problem you have mentioned in regards

    to the LAN/ethernet port!!!

Are there any other 5150 owners out there experiencing this problem?
