Application delay for wi-fi?
Hi, I posed this question in some of the wi-fi forums but no one replied so I figured my Dell peeps can relate.
Does anyone know of a utility to delay the launch of applications for wi-fi purposes?
When my laptop comes out of standby or hibernation usually the first things that happen are that I get the Outlook error that it can't find the server, the virus definitions download failed, etc., and then my wireless device connects the computer to the router.
I don't think the wi-fi device startup can go any faster (or can it?), so that means my applications will have to be slower. Anyone have any tips for that? Some applications I've noticed have a user definable delay like Handy Backup Pro that waits a preset time before opening a socket.
I'm sure most of you experience the same things so I'm curious what you've done to alleviate some of those "timeouts". And don't say close Outlook before standby!
Thanks!
