Cannot access internet - help!

Hello..

I have a one month old Inspiron 5100, internet connection through cable. Everything was working fine till yesterday when the whole world came down and I end up without internet.

Following observations:

Local Area Connection is set up as Connect Using "Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller"

When I connect the laptop to cable modem, Local Area Network comes alive informing me of the std 10 MBPS speed. It sends and receives some packets and then the packets sent stops, the packet received continues ticking.

Tried resetting everything including the hardware, resetting IE settings, restarting the Connection and the OS, nothing worked.. I have not changed the modem nor do I remember installing anything that can affect the network. I tried shutting down Antivirus, firewall and other resident programs but to no avail. We have another IBM laptop which when connected through the same wire, connects without any difficulty. Anyone pls guide me back to the net..!

Thanks!
