A computer I'm trying to fix has recently came up with a problem saying

"We have detected a problem with the routing table on your computer but we could not repair it. We suggest you reboot your computer."

This computer is connected to Earthlink internet thru Ethernet on a ZyXEL modem with Windows XP (SP2)

I also tried right clicking on the network icon and clicking Repair but it said there was an error trying to renew the ip address.

The renew ip said "An error occured while renewing interface Local Area Connection : An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket."

I'm guessing thats the main problem?

I've tried scanning for spyware, netsh winsock reset catalog, netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt, WinsockxpFix, and I updated just about any driver I thought would fix it.

Also, I connected a laptop to the ethernet cable the Dell was using and it was working fine. I even tried finding a system restore point but they came up with Errors saying Nothing has been changed since.
