What are the symptoms of a modem that is trying to die?  When I go online, I barely get mail inhouse and my server disconnects.  The two computer screens in the bottom right of the monitor . . . well, the front one keeps lighting up asking for information, but the back one darkens.

The phone line is still tied up if you pick it up, but those little computer screens stay there for minutes before they finally give up and are red Xed then disappear.

Is this a modem problem, a server problem, a phone line problem . . . I am confused.  Thank you, genie hunter
