Problem With Broadcom 570x Gigabit Integrated Controller

Alright so here's the problem along with what I've done to try and fix it thus far.

Whenever I try and connect, it spends a minute at aquiring I.P. Address. Then it tells me I have limited or no connectivity, and I recieve 0 packets.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, downloaded the optional newer driver version from dell.com, tried it with different cables that work on other computers, and tried to connect at different ports that work fine for other computers.

I have an Inspiron XPS Gen2 and am stumped as to how to fix this without forking out +160$ which I can't really afford right now in college. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks for reading,
Matt

How are you connecting this to the internet?  Is it a router? a cable modem? a dsl modem? or a LAN connection at your college?  Is there any other place where you can try to connect and if so, are you successful at another location?   Have you tried running the diagnostics on then network adapter (they are in the Broadcom Control Suite)?

I had a similiar problem. I changed the network card properties, and it works fine now. Right click 'My Network Place' right click the connection you have set up. Configure the network card with the 'configure' button. Go to the advanced tab, click 'speed & duplex' and ensure the value is set to 'auto'.

Steve - I am connecting to the internet through a LAN at my college. I have tried to connect at my house(where it worked a few months ago) and was unsuccessful there too. My roommate and others are able to plug in on the same wire I'm trying to connect with and connect to the internet.

On my broadcom 570x I ran the diagnostics test and they all passed. On my '1394 Net Adapter' though I did not have the option to run diagnostic tests. On my Net Adapter, it says my Driver Status is not loaded, my Bus Type is unsupported, and under Statistics everything is 0 or N/A if any of that matters.

And my Speed & Duplex is set to Auto.

Thanks for the help so far I appreciate it,
    Matt

To help troubleshoot this problem, go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.

So you know I am on a wireless connection but it is very slow and won't allow me to run most programs such as messengers. Here's the output from the ipconfig.

Is that the complete ipconfig output?  It doesn't even show the presence of an ethernet network adapter.  If you open Network Connections, is there a Local Area Connection listed there?  If so, which ones?  Have you tried reinstalling the drivers for the ethernet adapter?

My fault, I was messing around with it and accidentally had it disabled when I ran the ipconfig. Woops...  Also I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver. Here is the useful ipconfig.
