And finally, in my opinion ... the Intel i7-6700 is a nice/fast processor and a "good fit" for this class of machine.

@Jfreeman5 No it is not. The Q170 chipset doesn't support 8th or 9th generation cpus. In short, you can only use 6th and 7th generation cpus in the socket for it work. You also may need a BIOS update for 7th gen cpus.
@Swarailia ball And how can we upgrade the bios to be compatible with 7th gen proccesors?

7Th GEN core I7 7700
or
8th GEN core I7 8700
Intel wants you to buy new chipsets and new processors which is why they keep changing things. Fitting into the socket is only 1 parameter.
