I have an Optiplex 3020 SFF Intel Core i5-4590 8GB base unit and want to use dual monitors. The monitors have HDMI/DVI/DisplayPort inputs and the base unit has DisplayPort and VGA outputs.

1 monitor works perfectly when connected via DisplayPort. However, when I connect the second monitor via VGA port to HDMI input on the monitor (using a male VGA => female HDMI adaptor) it is not recognised and continuously loops with Windows sound notification for connected / disconnected. This is mirrored in display settings where an additional monitor appears and disappears repeatedly.

My assumption is converting a VGA output to one of these monitor inputs isn't possible and a graphics card upgrade may solve the issue - is this the case?

If an upgrade is needed, what would be a suitable graphics card? This is for general office use only and is for 2 monitors at 3840x2160 resolution.

From some research, this card seems to be compatible - AMD Radeon HD 7570 - low profile, suitable power consumption, supports 2 outputs that match the monitors.

Is there a more appropriate card? Or am I missing anything?
