Booting

Hello,

   I have PowerEdge 1300/600 Dual Processor PIII 600 (8GB) SCSI harddisk. S'day my system effected by virus. Currently i am having Win 2K installed(FAT32). I thought of format and reinstall server again. I formated the disk from command prompt(format c:). Its ok, but after reboot its not going further(NON SYSTEM DISK. REPLACE DISK and CONTINUE). In the BIOS i have set the boot sequence "CDROM FIRST". But its not starting.

Whats the problem and what i did mistake. Its SCSI not IDE.

How can i install win2K server. I have 2k bootable CD. But its not starting from CD. When i go to SCSI properties(Ctrl + A). There all the properties are set correctly. Boot BIOS CDROM support : YES

Is it the problem with formating from command prompt????

Pls reply the solution.

    Go into the server BIOS and ensure the boot order is set to SCSI devices or CDROM before hard disk.

    Hi,

      Thanx for the response. But, i have already set the sequence. Still not booting from CDROM eventhough the CD is bootable.

    Please clear NVRAM using the ISA_CLR jumper on the motherboard. The procedure is described in link below:

    If the problem persists even after clearing NVRAM, please try booting off a Windows 98 Boot Disk with CD-ROM option to verify that you can boot off a floppy and access the CD drive. Once you boot off the floppy, please verify that you can access files on the CD-ROM and copy them to test the CD drive. If you can, your CD drive is working properly. If you cannot, your CD drive may not be communicating properly. I suggest checking the cables and reseating them. Also, please check "Integrated Devices" option in BIOS to verify the IDE CD-ROM is enabled.
