M1000e Chassis : power question

Hello

We have a M1000e chassis with   8   M600 installed. We would like to add 4 more M600 but I would like to confirm the power requirements before.

There are 6 power supplies installed, and according to the info I get on DRAC, they are configured as 3 power supplies + 3 redundant  ( 2360 W each as reported by DRAC).

The wall outlet feeding the M1000e is 240 V, 30 A.

In terms of power, can we add 4 more M600 in this M1000e setup as-is ?

Here is a snapshot of the DRAC :

According to this, I would have 4312 W  available (more then enough for 4 more M600). But can I trust this : the wall outlet is 240V x 30A = 7200 W max. How can we have a System Input Max Power Capacity of  7928 W ?

Thanks

Gilbert

If they are only using 400w each, you have enough overhead for staying with a 3X3.

    Hi Gilbert,

If they are reporting as 2360w each that is 7080w total, there should be enough power for 12 blades, however it probably will not be full 3 active, 3 redundant solution, it will probably need 4 active and 2 spares.

    Thanks for the reply.

    The current input power (outlet) is 7200 W  ( 240V x 30A). So, if I need 4 active power supplies, that would potentially exceed that  (  4 x 2360 = 9440 W ), isn't it ? I would need to run another power line.

    However, do I really need to change the configuration to 4 + 2: according to DRAC, each blades uses about 400 W. Is it too risky to add another ~1600 W on the ~3200 W I am using now  ( 12 x 400 = 4800 << 7080 ) ?

    Thanks
