Hello, I would like to know if the E5-2696 V2 is supported on the R720?
I was about to buy a pair of these cpu's and it was listed that they aren't supported by the 12 gen poweredge servers, I'm running E5-2667 V2 right now and it seems a bit odd they wouldn't support the E5-2696 V2.

I took a look at the list of validated processors and this one isn't listed. I couldn't recommend using this model. It isn't listed as a processor that we sold, or carried under warranty stock for the R720.
It could be the case that the E5-2696 V2 would work fine, but was never validated. If you want to test this, you may want to make sure that you could return them, if they don't work.

Thanks, I've contacted the seller directly and he replied "For a strange reason, 12G Dell PowerEdge servers cannot boot with this processor."
I think i will pass now, thanks.
