Hi,

I have a Dell AIO A960. After software install and launching AIO Center, messages says preparing Del AIO Center For First USe but it never does anything ither than the littlw magnifying glass going round and round. HAve de-installed, re-installed sever times to no avail, All applications appear in the menu and I am running XP Home with a wireless network, protected via software firewall. Have tried turning off firewall and anitvirus when installing.

I believe you need to un-install the printer again (from Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs), restart the computer afterwards, and then reinstall it using the printer cd that came with it. If it's still the same you can download the updated printer driver. You can visit this page to download the latest driver for your A960 -> http://tinyurl.com/79lno , or you can update the firmware for it -> http://tinyurl.com/9wpoq

    I hope this helps...

    Hi,
Thx for getting back to me. No luck. Here is what I have done to date:

    1)Uninstalled all software
2)Run a registry file to clean registry of all files
3)Booted with only services on, no other startup files
    4)Reinstalled software

And still does th same thing. I can print and scan manually (scans come to computer if I initiate it from scan app directly) but that is about it. If a solution is not posted that works, I fear I may have to reinstall XP..

We encountered the same problem with a DELL Photo AIO Printer 922 (Windows 2000, SP4, Driver 1.0.21.0, german).
After close inspection we found the following solution:

Warning: if you are unfamiliar with the windows registry, don’t try this

    Problem description:
Registry entry HKLM\Software\DellInkjet\Photo AIO Printer 922\Scan is write protected and cannot be overwritten while the AIO center starts.
Therefore the software will not start and hang up while „seaching for applications“ is displayed.

    Solution:
    1. Start regedt32 and give yourself rights to delete key
    2. Delete key
    3. Restart AIO center

Many thx. I was able to finally get it to work using something very similar from a posting way back which involved going into the registry. I was so fed up with the whole thing I forgot to go back and post the fix. Many thx for doing this as I am sure it will help many folks in the future.
