Inkjet Cartridge Error Message 50C - A940

Error 50C means that the inkjet cartridge is improperly seated. This took only 10 emails back and forth from English-as-not-the-first-language tech support people to get that far. However, I still have not received answers to these questions:

What would cause the inkjet cartridge to improperly seat? Is something defective, i.e. cartridge, cartridge holder, printer? Is this likely to happen every time I have to replace the cartridge? No luck so far.

In reading the threads, I see that Dell has known of this issue since at least April of last year (2003), with proposed fixes ranging from replacement cartridges (mild) to replacement printers (extreme)!!

And yet their technical support folk still maintain it is, we, the users, who have it all wrong and don't know what the heck we're doing! I find this morally and intellectually dishonest (an oxymoron, to be sure) and disingenuous at best. I really do not like to be referred back to consulting the user guide when the user guide has NO list of error messages nor any suggestion as to where to go find them.

Dell really has balls saying that they have superior customer service and support. In my view, they will NEVER have to worry about overtaking Nordstrom in that category (Nordstrom is considered the #1, the best, the gold standard). I am soooooo disappointed with Dell, its poor service, its finger pointing, and people with such poor language skills that simply exacerabate an already problematic issue!

In any event, has anyone successfully installed more than one inkjet cartridge in an A940?

Thanks ...
