V515w scanning issue

I just cleaned up my Inspiron 1545 and re-installed windows 7 on the laptop but now the scanner does not scan to PDF files anymore. I select the PC on the printer screen and it gives me choices of 'E-Mail', 'Paint' and REFRESH. I push refresh but nothing happens. It used to work fine and scan to Acrobat Reader' would show as a choice. I tried my other computer and it would not show there either. I have downloaded the driver two times but same problem. Can anyone get me out of this frustration..thanks you so much in advance. Printer works fine otherwise.

    naushi,

You need the OCR Program to scan to PDF and documents and Fax

As for scanning, if you have the disk that came with the printer, then insert the Printer disk and stop it from running. Go to My Computer and double click on it. Look for the drive with the Dell disk in it. Right click on it, left click explore. Look for the OCR Folder. In the OCR Folder, there is an Abbyy Folder. right click on setup.exe, that's in the Abbyy Folder and left click run as administrator. This will install the OCR program.

Thank you for the prompt reply. I usually save all my disks but I don't seem to find the v515w disk. Is there a link you can suggest where I can download the OCR.

Also Rick, when I try to scan and after I select the laptop from the printer it says 'downloading application list' and then displays message 'cannot download application list'
