I have the Inspiron 700m and have tried to connect my Dell 3100 projector with no success in synchronizing using original cabling to the serial port on the laptop. Suggestions on how to do this successfully?
You mean the monitor-out port, not the serial port. (They do have slight resemblence.) Did you try toggling the display option (it cycles through primary monitor, external monitor, and both monitors) or booting your computer after the projector is connected?
Thanks for your comeback. Yes, I did mean monitor out. I tried toggling but no luck; re-boot computer, no synchronization. Did get a hold of tech support and the guy said to use an s-video cable instead. Will try that when I get back home.
Pressing FN F8 once sends the signal to the projector
Pressing FN F8 twice sends the signal back to the system
Pressing FN F8 thrice sends the signal to both
I am having connectivity difficulties as well. Just when I think I have it solved with the F8 toggle, then it doesn't work again like it should. I don't have a solution for you. I am going to have to call Tech Support and see again if anyone there knows what they are talking about. Very disappointing. Thought Dell would have thought this through before releasing it. They also do not have a docking station yet for this unit yet.
I have a 700m and just got a new 2300MP projector. I cannot get the laptop to synch with the projector using the RGB analog output connection. I tried another laptop (a COMPAQ) and it worked.
I got a Windows shutdown message saying there is a problem with the hardware driver.
