Hi CJB,
Please, click on the CD/RW link in my post and start with Section 15, article 1. This article should re-install the drivers. If this does not help, then try Section 11, article 2. If you moved the PC or recently installed a PCI card or another drive, then do re-seat the IDE cable, they can become loose. If you are using Windows XP, consider Section 100, article 31 of the same CD/RW link.

Any error msg.!!!!!! . Check in My computer if the drive letter is there,then check BIOS if the drive letter is there , if not try to reseat the cables for the drive , then check .......NOGO
Try to get a bootable cd and try to boot from a cd and see wat happens .!!!!!
Do you have only one drive or more ....CD / CDRW
