Roxio directCD format utility will not recognize a CD-RW disk
I have the NEC DVD +RW ND 1100A DVD burner. I have burned DVD's and audio CD's within the past year with no problem.
I have just recently attempted to format a CD-RW (Memorex CD-RW High speed 12X multi speed). I have formated 2 of these CD-RW's within the last year. I named one of these disks "stuff" and one of these disks "backup". Now when i put those CD-RW's in my DVD burner, i see in Windows XP-Explorer: 3 1/2 floppy (A:), Local Disk (C:), DVD Drive (D:) and CD drive (E:) and Local Disk (F:). In the past, the name "stuff" or "backup" would appear where the "CD drive (E:) is.
I you will refer to<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>
In step 2, you can see the select CD window shows the (F:) drive and also you can see the format CD button and the EJECT button both of which are blue.
My problem is that my DVD does not show any CD available and I am unable to format CD or eject the CD. In addition, it does not show information in the CD Info window: Status/label/free space/total space/type/compressed/used by. It is almost like my DVD will not even recognize that there is a CD-RW in the tray. I can put in an audio cd or a dvd in the tray and it will recognize both.
What do you think is wrong?
Thank you for your reply
Chris
