Hi- brand new here.  I have read through lots of post here and other places about folks having problems with their Teac W58E DVD burners.  I haven't come across anyone with my particular problem.

I got my computer around Xmas time and really never used the DVD burner.  I have started to recently and haven't had much success.  I installed Nero6 and have not been able to make it burn a thing.  I also can't make Sonic MyDVD do anything either.

Anyhow, the error I get is something like this: "DVD+R not blank- please insert blank media".  I'm using brand new Verbatim discs.  Then I put the same disc back in the drive.  The drive accepts the disc and the burn is supposedly started.  The disc is then ejected and I am told that the burn is unfinshed due to an error. 

I have run the Nero diver/registry cleaner. It didn't help the situation.  This has become something of a crusade for me in the past few weeks- a person on another forum was kind enough to point me here and inform me that the problem was perhaps not my fault, a drive issue has been noted.

So here a sit with a very expensive computer (Dim XPS, 3 gb processor, 1 gig ram) that won't burn DVDs.  I'm not much of a computer guy, so lots of the talk I see on the net concerning this stuff goes over my head.

One thing I did hear that made a little sense to me- some one posted on another forum that he swapped his DVD drive in as his master drive instead of a slave and his problems were solved.  Should I bother with this?
