Servers Assistant and SNMP Trap forwarding

Does anyone know how to have DELL's Server Assistant program forward the SNMP traps to a third party Network Monitoring Solution?

Are you trying to monitor Dell servers or clients? What is the management station application that you are using?

You're probably going to need the MIB's. They are under the download category for Systems Management. There is also a readme file that can be downloaded separately, http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/format.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&SystemID=PWE_PNT_2800&os=WNET&osl=en&deviceid=1108&typecnt=1&releaseid=R102865&vercnt=2

I am trying to manage DELL Servers.  The management station I am using is called Server's Alive.

You will need to install Open Manage Server Administrator 2.1 on the servers you are trying to manage. It installed from the Open Manage 4.4 suite, the install the Dell MIB's. The Dell agent that install with Open Manage pulls the information from the hardware. The MIB's then translate that information.

You will also need to create an SNMP community on the managed nodes and management station. Start out with only one community name set to either read/write or read/create.  Community names are case sensitive and do not use any special characters.

    Good luck!

    In our case, we set:
    trapcommunity public
    trapsink 1.2.3.4
    and did not set
    rocommunity whatever

This allowed traps to be sent out from the 2850/1850 running OMSA 4.5 and net-snmp, without allowing browse of the mibs on the managed station. This was actually due to a bug we were experiencing.

Anyway it is (in some cases at least) possible to configure sending of traps from an agent without allowing read or read-write access.

In case this is of use...
