I configured CAVA for VNX and started a *.*- full scan on the CS. It then appeared to me that it might take ages since I didnt consider that not only a certain file system is being scanned but all of them. Is there a way, apart from remounting a filesystem with noscan flag to exclude a filesystem from being scanned? Would a noscan mount necessarily result in the filesystem to become unavailble during the remounting?
Thanks. I don't like to stop the scan itself but only scan a specific filesystem or exclude a number of filesystems from the scan. The scanner started to scan each file in every file system.
CAVA will scan files for a virus the first time that a file is read, subsequent to the initial implementation of CAVA and any updates to virus definitions.
Creating, modifying, or moving a file
When restoring a file (or files) from backup
When renaming a file with a different file extension
Whenever an administrator performs a full file system scan (with the server_viruschk command) .

I just got it. I started the scan on a specific filesystem. Hence not all file systems are being scanned. I got confused with the on access scanner
cheers
