I administer one VPLEX Metro infraestructure that consist of 2 Datacenter, each datacenter with one VPLEX replicating storage and 3 ESXi host, the 6 host are in the same vCenter Datacenter and all of them seen the same datastores.
Recently the VPLEX has been upgrade to 6.2 version and I have doubths about ESXi Datastore storage policy.
Now this is the configuration: VMW_SATP_INV - NMP and Fixed.
In this case, ¿it's possible to change Fixed to Round Robin?, ¿There is any configuration or best practice guide about that?
Hi josh Thanks for your answer. On how to modify the PSP in vmware I think I have it clear. My question arises around VPLEX in Metro environment.
I have read the Dell EMC Host Connectivity Guide doc for VMware ESXi Server but it is not clear to me if with version 6.2 Active / Active and a Unity array in each Data Center you can use Round Robin or keep Fixed Path instead.
Hi, since the host is looking at the VPLEX and not the Unity we are not concerned about the Unity. You can used round robin. Are you using vplex in a single datacenter or in a metro?
Great, I assume you are not doing cross connect were the 3 hosts in data center A to the VPLEX in data center B correct? If you are not doing this then there are no other considerations for using round robin.
I'm Using Metro configuration. One VPLEX with 3 esxi hosts in Data Center A and one VPLEX with another 3 ESXi in Data Center B. One vCenter - One Datacenter - Cluster with 6 hosts.
I configure a distrubed device composed of two volumes from each of the VPLEXs and present it to the 6 ESXi hosts.
I have the same architectura that the VPLEX Guide where the volume in Cluster-1 is exported to 6 hosts and volume of the Cluster-2 the same. I don't know if it's correct or not.
