I am using IE 7 RC1 and it is quite stable on my system, nice and fast too. The final RTM will be offered as a recommended update later this year.

Some sites don't render properly, but mostly because the web masters have not updated their code (IE 7 conforms more closely to CSS standards than IE6 and the workarounds for the latter don't work. Webmasters have now had several months to change things, but not all have bothered.  Perhaps they are waiting for the final release).

To see issues  that people have reported on their systems, you can look at the newsgroup microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general. You can access that with Outlook express, the server is msnews.microsoft.com. Or in IE

Another (IE based tabbed) browser I use is Slimbrowser. There are pluses and minuses in terms of features i Slimbrowser and IE 7, but I like both.

Comparing IE 7 and Slimbrowser only, this would be my list of + for each; I may have missed some. Slimbrowser, as it sits on top of IE, uses some of IE 7's better features such as print preview, but lacks some others introduced in IE 7. However it has additional features of its own, which make it more convenient to use in certain circumstances.

+ in Slimbrowser:

1. Autologin (for sites that don't use cookies to remember your login details). 2. Assigned site names: you can choose the name that appears on the tab for a given site, and it stays the same when you click through links in it (in IE it changes as you go through the links); if you choose a short name the tab width adjusts accordingy, so saving space on the tab bar. 3. Localised weather summary in status bar. 4. Better group handling. 5. Better 'open site visited last time the browser was used' (the option can be selected when you open the browser, in IE you have to select it before you close the browser; but next time you use IE, you might not want the sites you opened last time after all). 5 Recently closed sites list (in addition to History). 6. Choice of languages for menus (I don't use this, but it could be convenient for multilingual environments). 7. Easier find on page (highlight keyword). 8. In page ad filter, URL filter. 8. More customizable toolbars, and skins if you want those. 9. Privacy report, telling you what was blocked from a site (cookies, URLs,..). 9 Easy create alias feature, convenient if you often type an address to a site (I tend to use favorites list more).

+ in IE 7:

1.  RSS feed reader (though Slimbrowser will open RSS feed pages it does not cache items for later reference). 2. Quick tabs.

JR~    One last thing.  ...as I'm currently using IE6, would you suggest I just load Slimbrowser on top of it, or would you recommend that I place it on top of IE7 RC1 ?     ~pv

That being the case, I'll just install SlimBrowser over IE6.   Seems to me that way I still get the tabbing feature of IE7. but avoid any potential bugs in IE7 RC1.
