"Critlcal Updates" ??

Noticed this under the Dell Support alerts.  I have no idea what this stuff is.    Here's the link:

http://support.dell.com/us/en/kb/document.asp?DN=1083341#Section5

Should I be concerned about any of this?  Should I download anything?  Past history - anytime I have installed some "critical" update, it usually has caused problems of some sort.  I ONLY want to download what really may be needed.

Can someone explain to me in simple, laymen terms what all this is?

Thanks!

In IE click on Tools/ Wndows Update and scan your system for required Critical updates.

The article seems to relate to what to do if you think you are infected, especially with the blaster virus ot otrher that shuts down RPC.

I agree, XP critical updates are essential, and I think that you are ill advised not to install them all. As far as I know only one caused some problems a while back, and that was quickly replaced with a patched version. Install them in ones or twos, reboot between each download. Also updating you virus definitions is essential.
