Dell Studio 15 Vista problems
I've had my laptop just over six months now, and the thing seems to be eating itself from the inside out. At this point, I'm pretty sure it has most, if not all, to do with the operating system, which is Windows Vista Sp1. The laptop is a Studio 15 with an AMD Turion X2 processor, 320gigs hd, and 4gigs of RAM. Since I got it, though, its been giving me the stupid blue screen and memory dump, the black screen of death, and the frequent COM surrogate error. I've tried everything I can think of to fix it. Anyone have any ideas?

I have the same problem with mine, only it is now 2 months out of warranty. I have tried Vista and Windows 7 Ultimate Editions X64 bit. I even replaced the hard drive and tried swapping the memory sticks. Everything I have found online suggests a driver issue. I have read problems pointing at ram, audio, hard drive, integrated webcam, BIOS update. I have tried replacing or updating all of these. It still BSOD's. Nobody has any definite answers that seems to work. I just think Dell is dropping the ball considering there seems to be a lot more BSOD's these days from Dell then ever in the past. Oh...and mine happens even during the installation of a new OS, so it isn't a Windows update as suggested by other sites either. 2 of my friends had Studio laptops but of other models. They too have had problems spanning from bad motherboards to bad graphics chips. Maybe I just need to switch to the Asus netbooks. My wife's has lasted 14 months with no problems.
