Dimension 2350 - system instability
Hi,
Having trouble with running programs on Dimension, has Windows XP. Programs close, some like "search" tool won't run. System restore tried, restore points lost. In Word, drop down menu items produce blank boxes, then program stops. Have run virus scans, defragmenter, clean-up, etc.
Tried re-installing Windows,no improvement. Is this a system instability? Also, "repair" in Office programs won't work.

You say you tried reinstalling XP. When you did that did you do a clean reinstall, including formatting your C:\ partition? After the operating system was installed did you install the system drivers before installing the preinstalled software (such as Word)? Compare what you did with the steps given here.
