dimension 8400 restore help

I just got a new 8400 and need some help/advice..

1.) it came with xp home. I tried installing xp pro and it wiped out the extra "restore" partitions. My mcahine did not come with a restore disk. if I get one from dell will it restore those partitions?

2.) After installing pro (a full cd from ms) I installed all the drivers etc from dell. It would not take the chipset & sound card software & did not run right. Is there a difference in the home & pro drivers/software? if so how can I get the pro drivers/software?

thx in advance for any help

Dell does not provide a restore disk, only a disk with a full version of Windows XP.  Once the restore partition and diagnostic partition are gone, they cannot be restored.

There is no difference in the drivers for XP Pro and XP Home.  You might want to try downloading the drivers from the the Dell Support web site.
