Disappearing Recent Document List

My "Recent Document List" (which shows the 10 most recent documents I have worked on) keeps emptying itsself. When I click on it, it says it is empty. If I go in and find the document manually and work on
it - that document doesn't stay in the "Recent Document Lsit". So it emptied itsself and now won't hold
any new data. Anyone have any ideas?

    try this,

    Start > Run > Type gpedit.msc

    On Group Policy window:

User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar
Double-click "Do not keep history of recently opened documents"
Click/select "Not Configured" or "Disabled" > OK

Also set to "Not Configured" or "Disabled" the "Clear history of recently opened documents on exit"

The only reason I can think of is that you are sharing that PC with somebody and he/she doesn't want you to find out .....
