E510 Shutdown hangs/bluescreen

Hello everyone, I'm wondering if anyone is experiencing the same problem with the E510. I just got it a month ago and only things I've added is a linksys wifi usb adapter and installed MS Office. When I shutdown the computer randomly hangs when it says "Shutting down" or "Windows is saving your information" (or whatever those screens before shutting down say. It either hangs there or gives a blue screen with a message saying it has prevented my computer from doing any more harm, etc etc. The important parts seem to be; IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL "Technical Information" *Stop:0x0000000A(0x0000013D, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x806E4ALA) When this happens I just hold down the power button until it turns off, and when I boot it up again it acts like nothing has happened. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated. The machine is an E510, 2gig ram, datasafe 160gig hd, x600 vid card, xi-fi extreme music audigy sound card, running on WinXP Media Center with all the windows updates and newest Dell drivers from the website.

    Hi:

A lot of suggestions for this from MS: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314063/EN-US/

It happened all the time with my machine too, and Dell Support basically said my only option was to run System Restore which completely wipes all your data!

The Microsoft help pages are much more useful, but be very careful when manually resetting drivers and editing the registry as advised by Microsoft. Even if you follow all the instructions to the very letter, when you try to re-boot your "cleaned" Dell PC you might be surprised to find that the Admin password is no longer valid!!!

You might also find the the Ctrl-F11 feature is also completely disabled.

    1. Reinstall Bluetooth drivers
    2. Remove Sonic software
    3. Try discharging static (special steps, which I did once, but forgot)

I did these things and its all okay now. I think the Bluetooth is what killed me.

Thanks for all the help. No lockup/bluescreen thus far, but it always happens random so I guess we'll see how it goes sooner or later.

    So far I've updated video/audio/dvd drive/bios/chipset drivers.

To Gateway_Dude: I'm pretty sure I dont have any bluetooth drivers because I don't have any bluetooth devices, I'll double check though. And could the Sonic dvd software be causing it? I've updated the software & updated the driver for my dvd & dvd-rw drive.

Once again thanks everybody, I'll inform you if my problem persists or not.
