I have a Dell XPS studio with Vista 64-bit. I also have a folder that refuses to die. I created a new folder on my desktop to hold some music files. Once I'd finished with them, I deleted all the files. Following this I deleted the folder. However, the folder will not stay deleted. It just pops up whenever it feels like it. I've gone answer properties to make sure all of the permissions are there which they are. There's just absolutely no reason why this folder won't go away.
Hope somebody can point me in the right direction to killing this folder for good. Thanks in advance. SCB :emotion-39:
I had a problem with not being able to delete a folder. Try booting up in safe mode and deleting the folder. Safe mode doesn't load anything and if this folder has a virus or spyware in it it could launch on startup. Hope this helps.
@DELL-Jesse L.: yeah, I've tried just about everything I could think of. I've heard good things about UnLocker but have never used it. I'll give it a shot. I figured I could use Pocket Killbox, too but that just seemed a little drastic. So is this just one of Vista's quirks?
Edit: just tried to download UnLocker. NOD32 flagged it and would not allow the download.
@woolwv: You are absolutely correct in that I could probably delete the folder in Safe Mode. That, too, seems a little drastic. Considering the fact that I created the folder myself and there's nothing in it, I'm pretty safe in thinking that it is not infected with anything. Here's another little odd thing with this situation. I use CCleaner to clean my temp files and one of the cool features of this program is that when you run it from within the recycle bin (right-click context menu), you can set it to "shred" files and folders by making multiple passes. Even set at the maximum number of passes, the folder just kept coming back.
I guess I will go the Killbox route first and if that doesn't work I'll try the Safe Mode option. Thanks again for the responses. -- SCB :emotion-11:

SpotCheckBilly,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
Is the recycle bin empty before deleting the folder? Some users have used a program called "UnLocker" that seems to delete folders that wont delete.
