Hibernation Restart problem
I have a new Dell Dimension 8300 and am having problems with the hibernate mode...I have installed the latest BIOS version from Dell, version A05.....I am experiencing a problem with XP restarting once I come out of the mode and getting my computer up and running as per the documentation in XP...when I push the power button the computer does start and I can see the set up file load at the bottom of my screen but after that the computer does not come back to the point where I left it...it is creating the Hibernate file but does not seem to be able to bring back after loading it..please advise me as to what I can do to "fix" this problem, any advice is welcome...

Standby and Hibernate modes were designed for laptop systems. They were ported to desktops and have never been reliable on them. The easiest fix is to simply set those modes to NEVER and set your monitor and hard disk to power down after a period of inactivity you specify.

Hibernation and standby problems are a pain to fix, so that's why it's just easier to disable it.
It's a software/driver/BIOS conflict causing the problems more than likely.

Thanks for the information...I wonder why the manufacturers of the system (Dell) do not tell you that this feature does or does not work on your particular computer when you go into Windows XP to start it up...would have saved me some time asking the question
