I have a small problem with VISTA HOME PREM

I downloaded my Vista from Microsoft, and since Monday all was going okay, I and now having lock ups with my system.  If I have a DVD, or using a lot of windows at the same time it locks up, and I hear this dinging for about 20 sec than all is okay and than a little later it will do it again, and keeps doing it.  Any ideas for all you tech people, that really know computers can help me with this problem?

Thanks

Between when it was working OK and when it started locking up, did you update any drivers Video, Sound etc or install any programs...

This really sounds like a driver issue. Have you tried a system restore to a previous date when it was working OK.

I did do a system restore, but it still does it. I am not sure what it could be.

Sounds like drivers to me too, have you any beta drivers installed? If so you should check if theres a final version available. Ive also heard that there can be a problem with vista if a lot of your ram is being used, it can cause the system to lock up like you described. Check this links and see if it helps -

I POSTED something that I was not allowed to post, I guess talking about Dells Upgrade Service so I have been warned, and because I used another computer company's name (BETTER COMPANY) so I have been warned not to do it or I will lose being able to write here.  I went back and re-read what I posted, it stated that I used a WORD that was not allowed to be used, and well the only thing that 5 of us could come up with is that i used (BETTER COMPANY'S NAME) oh well Just another way DELL trays to control what you say about there, company. Block, do what ever. This computer is still the worst. I have already been contact via email, and phone from Microsoft about DELLS upgrade promise, just like everything else DELL just makes excuses and now they are going to block me because of a opinion.  Oh well please do it, it's not like I don't have three other computers, (from other company) to get on form with.

THANKS DCF AND DTD95834, and I have forwarded your email to me to (BETTER COMPANY & Microsoft to show how you treat customers of this)

    YOU have a wonderful day.

Go to the Device Manager (Right Click My Computer and go to Properties)  and go to the Device in question.  Your video card would be listed under Display adapters.

Highlight the item and right click and look for the Driver tab.  The provider will be the first item.

You got warned becasue you violated the terms of service that you agreed to mainly trying to beat the profanity filter I presume.  The Express Upgrade program has been poorly managed but to thier credit, Dell-AAron is really working hard to get people the information they need
This is once in a lifetime program so no one really knew what to expect.  I wouldn't expect a whole lot for free.
