Make use of Resolution Assistant

I have a Dimension 4100 Me. I am a newcomer to the computer age. I have learned alot in three years. I have tried all sorts of remedies from Dell Techs. They keep sending the typical form letter, not understanding that I don't understand half of procedures I should do. I have not been able to use the "fix" button on my Resolution assistant.

Can anyone share a little knowledge on this subject?

Resolution Assistant has never been very functional.  Post your problem here, telling us exactly what happens, the full and exact text of any error messages, and what programs you have running in the background when the problem occurs.  Someone here will likely be able to help you.

Indeed, and it's been especially dysfunctional since July of 2001, when use/support of it was completely discontinued by Dell.  In light of that, your best option for dealing with Resolution Assistant issues is to uninstall it via Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs.

Thank you for the plain english - information. Techs have been giving me the run around for three years. I got on the computer this morning and it froze up-again. After hitting the reset - I got this error.
    " SYMEvent (01) + 0000BDOB + OE : 0028 : C007BAB3 "
The day before I went to symantic and updated the livedater which was suppose to fix that problem. I will go back to symantic and research more.

    I'll   be   back. Thanks again.

According to this MS KB article, you have an older version of a Symantec program (such as Norton AntiVirus). Follow the instructions and you should be able to resolve this.

Thank you, to the people who take the time to answer my questions. I appreciate the advice. When I clicked on to Symantic site and I got a Run time error "Program:C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\SYMATEC SHARED\ CCAPP.EXE"  abnormal program termination.

I closed Outlook and immediately another error popped up "Outlook has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL" this window would not close-at all. Not even ctrl-alt-del would shut down.

I hit the restart and after everything loaded this popped up " IPHLPAPI.DLL file cannot start   check file to determine the problem" I tried to access that file, but could not.  What should I do next?

That file appears to be related to networking or broadband internet access. You should run system restore to fix that immediate problem.

I restored to a better time, removed Resolution Assistant, installed a newer version of Norton liveupdater, waved a handful of sage &  rosemary, counter-clockwise, above the keyboard.
Behold, my computer seems to be acting better, but time will tell.
    Thank you all.
