New drivers.. now XP wont boot!

I recently replaced some drivers in ...system32/drivers and now XP wont boot.

I tried to start windows normally and under last known good configuration, even safe mode. Nothing works.

I also tried repair console, but it doesnt work either. Please help! Thanks

Define "replaced some drivers in the system 32" folder. What were you doing in there?

You should never have to go into that folder. You cannot just willy nilly copy and paste drivers. They have to be Installed by the OS.

Yeah.. learned my lesson. Had to reformat and lose all my files!

I hope my misfortune teaches others not to do the same..

Before you lost those files, I would have bought another hard drive and slaved the old to the new. No backups??

It was a notebook, so I dont think you can slave the hdd.

Absolutely it can be done with any number of external cases or connectors.
