NVIDIA Drivers
I recently updated my laptop's intel HD 3000 drivers from the dell drivers page. Then i decided to update its Nvidia Geforce GT525M's drivers. When i opened the downloaded driver from dell's drivers page, i noticed that its version was 285.77 and when i checked nvidia's website it showed that the latest driver for my gpu was 301.42. What's happening here dell? I don't want to install drivers fro nvidia website because they said the i should get drivers from my computer manufacturer. But it turns out the drivers on dell's page are outdated! I want to know which driver should i install.

Dell does not write drivers from scratch. They build on/modify/tweak manufacturers' drivers to make sure they are compatible with their systems. This process can take many weeks to completely test/tweak. The fewer affected systems and the fewer modifications required will make this testing phase shorter. Also, not all drivers from the manufacturer adds fixes/functionality that affect the Dell implementation in a given system, so if that driver version is not targeted at anything that applies to the Dell machine, Dell will not release it. In most cases, using the driver from the manufacturer will not hurt, but it can, at times either fix issues that Dell has not finished testing for or even cause new issues.
