Hi,

An AI assistant gave me advice, can someone verify it?

I ran powercfg /batteryreport on my Dell G15 5530 (Windows 11, OS build 26100, BIOS 1.36.0) and asked an AI assistant (Claude) to analyze it. I would like experienced users to check whether its conclusions and advice are correct, because I can't verify them myself.

The problem

Battery: DELL P8P1P3B (SMP, LiP)
Design capacity: 54,880 mWh
Full charge capacity: 36,879 mWh (about 67% of design)
Cycle count: 150
Full charge capacity is identical in every weekly row since 2026-09-01.
The laptop is on AC almost all the time. Battery use is only a few minutes per week.
On 2026-10-22 at about 21:40, charge fell from 100% to 94% while the source was listed as AC, then stayed at 94% for hours.
On 2026-10-26 at about 22:09, the power source flipped between battery and AC several times within a second.
Battery life estimates show impossible values such as "1874% / 16 h" for connected standby.

What the AI told me

The battery has lost about a third of its capacity, which it called heavy wear for only 150 cycles. It suggested that sitting at 100% on AC and heat are likely causes.
The unchanging full-charge value means either wear has stabilised or the firmware is reporting a stuck value.
The estimates are extrapolated from a few minutes of battery use, so the standby figures are meaningless.
The 100% to 94% drop on AC might be the adapter not keeping up under load, or a charge threshold setting.
The rapid AC/battery switching might indicate a loose charger connection or DC jack.
It recommended running a battery test in Dell SupportAssist or the BIOS diagnostics.
It first suggested using Dell Power Manager to cap charging at about 80%. I told it that app doesn't exist for the G15, and it corrected itself.
It then suggested using the BIOS instead: press F2 at boot, then look under Advanced or Power for "Battery Charge Configuration", and choose Custom (start 50%, stop 80%) if available, otherwise "Primarily AC Use", and avoid Express Charge because of heat. It said it could not confirm that the G15 5530 BIOS has this option.

My questions

Is 67% of design capacity after 150 cycles plausible, or is something wrong with the battery or its reporting?
Is the AI's explanation of the 94% drop and the AC/battery flipping reasonable?
Does the G15 5530 BIOS actually offer a charge limit (Custom or Primarily AC Use)? If not, is there any supported way to cap charging at about 80% on this model?
Is anything in the AI's advice wrong or risky?
