"Specified Module could not be found" message
Hi,
Recently I was ambushed by a number of Spyware programs. As a result I started receiving messages upon booting my PC about various DLL's that couldn't be found/loaded. Luckily after working with the SpywareWarrior Forum they were able to help me clean up my PC and the missing DLL issues seem to have gone away. However, I still have one Spyware induced (I think) issue remaining. Namely that when I boot my PC I receive the following message in a dialog box
D0CE016B1
The specified module could not be found
BTW, I'm running Windows XP Profession SP2
Does anyone have any idea what module this might be and how I can correct the situation?

- start>run>msconfigchoose selective startup, remove the checkmark from all but load system services. (original boot.ini is a radio dot not a check mark...leave it alone heh).Go to the services tab and check hide all microsoft services, then click disable all. click ok to reboot and it'll restart your pc.On restart click don't show this message again to the msconfig utility being used.Try it for a while hopefully that error won't show up again. If it does, well that'll be unfortunate; but we'll go from there. Assuming it doesn't, you can go back into msconfig, and enable system win.ini and process win.ini. I'd enable all services and go from there. Test for a while. If it does come up you know it's one of the things we enabled, but not a MS service.And you can continue from there, if need be starting maybe half the services (keep track of what half) see if it coems up or not, then lastly do the startup tab. Enable those few at a time.
- Doing a search on GOOGLE, I found a lot of web pages regarding this problem.rundll32.exe D0CE0C16B1,D0CE0C16B1 - Dangerousrundll32.exe d0ce0c16b1,d0ce0c16b1 Rundll32.exe stlb2.dll,DllRunMain is BrowserAid/ABCSearch parasite which displays popup ads.
- i never found anything for it i don't think when i looked on google, maybe i'm mentally slow .None the less bad or not, i'd disable it from starting up, if mysteriously one of your programs doesn't work you may know why, but otherwise you don't technically need anything listed in there for windows to run properly. Those are all extra things from programs you've installed (or drivers like mouse and stuff).As for the msconfig thing coming up every time eventhough you clicked it. It's always gonna come up after reboot if you make a change. If you don't go in there after reboot, just simply say don't show this message again and ok, then it won't come up again (unless you go back in there).

Thanks for the pointer. That is a handy command. So I found out that in the Startup tab there is an entry "rundll32.exe D0CE0C16B1, D0CE0C16B1". One would guess that this is the source of the error message. Do you know what this DLL might be for? Should I try to get rid of this entry in the Startup permanently? If so how would I do this?
There were also some other entries in the Startup tab that didn't have names? How do I tell if these are valid entries. I recently worked with the SpywareWarrior forum to help me rid my computer of many Spyware programs. So I'm pretty sure that it is clean now but I wonder if there are some remnants remaining. Again this error message first appeared after I was attacked by Spyware. I had also been getting some dll errors but those disappeared after I cleaned up my PC.
BTW, even though I clicked "don't show this message again" with the msconfig cmd it still showed the message everytime it rebooted.

BayWolf and Scott,Thanks for your help on this!!! I used the TrendMicro instructions and I put a stake in the heart of this last bit of Malware.I learned quite a bit from both of you guys (e.g., msconfig, regedit, etc.)Thanks again,Jet

If you can provide any guidance I would appreciate it.
I don't know if this issue is a problem or not as it hasn't seemed to cause any problems yet. But it's a bit un-nerving in any case and I'd like to get to the bottom of it.
